I've been through enough and seen enough to know that I should appreciate the things I do have and not to waste time trying to acheive or aquire those things that, although attractive in their own right, will never keep me happy or satisfied. Life is not about being the one who dies with the most toys, money, "friends", or success stories. It's about being thankful that you're alive for another day, that you have another apportunity to better yourself and positively affect those around you. Finding enjoyment in seemingly trivial things like smelling a flower, watching a sunset, experiencing nature, or even walking your dog. Having that certain someone next to you, growing and experiencing life with you, makes it even more enjoyable. Someone to share the highs, and yes, sometimes the lows, who loves you for who you are and not for what they'd like you to become. Someone who brings out the best in you and causes you to be a better person. In short, I'm tired of the games, the hypocracy, the lies, and the shallow. Honesty and loyalty unfortunately can be difficult to find these days in relationships. Why must we go through more than our share of pain and sorrow before we learn what's really important. I guess that's part of life, however cruel it can be. Of course, not everyone learns by the school of hard knocks, but I imagine that many of us do.
Believe it or not, I am a pretty upbeat guy who likes to give people the benefit of the doubt. I have a great sense of humor, sometimes maybe too much, but know when the time is to be serious. It takes quite a bit to piss me off for the most part but there are things that I will never accept or agree with. I believe that all people have some part in them that wants to be good, to do what's right. That part definitely varies in size from one person to the next though!
