About wphilpot

Interests:
Are you tired of all the cliches in profiles? I am, so let me dispell some. I am not "family oriented." I love my family, they are my family after all, but after 25 years of seeing them almost everyday I nearly cringe when they call. I do not put religion first in my life. I am not a religious person. If you're religious that's fine, but don't expect me to agree on many faith based points with you. I'm not "goal oriented." I have some goals to reach, but I don't have a checklist of things to complete within a certain time frame. I have an idea where my career path is taking me, and I'll ride the wave, doing things I want and enjoy in the meantime as Father Time deems fit to allow me.

I'm a huge movie buff, so I always enjoy watching a good movie. Genre movies have a special spot in my heart. I don't dance, so I avoid clubs, but I enjoy shooting pool. I actually read for fun. I go to Rockets/Astros games, and concerts when a good band comes.

I work in the oil/gas pipeline industry, in the procurement department. Fairly stressful job, but I enjoy it. I also do a great job in leaving work at the office.

I was geek way before "geek chic" entered the world's lexicon. Just because I have my degree, a career, and matured as a person does not mean I have outgrown my love of being nerdy and geeky. I still play video games, I know way too much about computers, I am shy as they come, and I consider "The Watchmen" by Alan Moore one of the greatest pieces of literature ever.

I'm not a huge fan of going out all the time. I work plenty of hours, so I cherish coming home, making dinner, and relaxing. I obviously don't like spending every waking second sitting at home, but I don't find happiness in constantly moving, running, and having to find some way to get out of the house. Happiness can come from within and all that.

I have a pretty warped sense of humor. I am not disrespectful (at least not on purpose!), but let me just say I find a lot more humor in American Psycho or Fight Club than your typical "comedy."

I want to travel a lot, and with my work, someday I hope to be able to work overseas and kill two birds with one stone. I would love to settle down in Toronto eventually. My list of travel destinations is long, highlighted by London, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, Cannes, Monaco, Venice, Zurich, Sydney, Auckland, Dubai, Tokyo, Hong Kong. Well, lots of places!

As far as who I am interested in I first of all want a woman that can appreciate my geek hobbies, and not look down on them. A woman that has a passion about something, music, film, knitting, really anything. I don't need to share your passion; It's just good to know that you have something you love. I tend to be attracted to artistic women, that don't take themselves seriously. Know when to be serious, but enjoy making light of any situation. A woman that can quote Citizen Kane, Bill & Ted, and Fight Club with the same fervor is a plus.

I am interested in someone that wants to be friends, and in a relationship. I've been doing the dating scene for long enough, and am interested in finding someone to spend quality time with, instead of spending not such quality time with a different people. I've done the dating scene, and I've had serious relationships. I'm at the point in my life where a serious relationship is what I enjoy, and find fulfilling.
