About AndyDufresne

Interests: too many to list
I am a professional writer and editor, sometimes a photographer and currently a publisher of landscaping and business management magazines. I have been an Army Engineer Officer, an Air Force Intelligence Analyst and a City Councilman.

I have always been a hard worker. I try to make positive things happen. I try to help my 2 teenage girls learn to take things in stride and to understand that perseverance and self-confidence can overcome the curves life throws us.

I’ve spent much of the last 4 years working to get new business projects off the ground while taking care of house and kids. With my girls now part-time and our flagship magazine on track I’ve now got time. Not sure how to deal with this….

If you enjoy life as I do you will enjoy spending time with me. I’m affectionate, playful and a bit animated. I find humor everywhere; It’s how my head works.

I would love to get out and waltz or 2-step across a ballroom. I’ll dance with you even if we’re the only couple on the floor. Dancing with the lights down in the kitchen is nice too. I listen to classic country, western swing, and old soul like Marvin Gaye/Smoky Robinson, the blues, bluegrass, reggae, rock n’ roll…. Lately I’ve been torturing myself listening to soapy old tracks from Ricky Nelson and Vaughn Monroe (big band crooner). Need to a partner to dance with me.

I need someone to hold hands with at the movies. I haven’t seen many in recent years. The most moving part of “Saving Private Ryan” wasn’t the battle scenes. It was the mother in her apron and house-dress falling to her knees as the “notification officer” drove up the farm lane. See “Mean Girls” (a teen-girl comedy) if you haven’t: “I wish I could make a cake out of rainbows and smiles.” Too funny.

I've always loved the outdoors. This summer my daughter and I camped by a CO mountain lake, and by the Rio Grand in NM. A million stars, grilled fish, rain leaking thru the tent – doesn’t get much better than that. Okay, maybe not the rain part. But it wasn’t that bad either. Usually do hotels.

I don’t wear jewelry. Never have. That said, my first suit was an Armani; you can dress me up and I won’t have that “just fell off a turnip truck” mystique. Not much opportunity for suits around here. These days I dress more like a deer hunter w/o blaze orange.

I appreciate fine wine, single malt Scotch, and a good pale ale on tap. Still, there’s nothing better than sitting around with my brothers drinking Old Style in cans after a day pouring concrete or moving dirt.

I don’t watch much TV. I’ll watch sports, but I’m usually doing something else at the same time: dishes, editing, etc. Commercials drive me nuts. I love the U of Wisconsin football atmosphere. I was an exceptional defensive tackle in high school, not because of my size, but because I put my heart into it.

I have a little dog affectionately known as The Rat. She’s a sweetheart, but a real coward. She growls at noises outside, but she really wants to jump into my lap where it’s safe.

I’m organized, frugal and financially smart/responsible. I stay in shape from working at it, and am attracted to women who also take care of themselves. But I'm not much into cosmetics.

I am tough and assertive, but it’s important to me that you are too. While I want to spend time with you I also need my space. I need you to have a life/career beyond me. I'm looking for someone with a strong sense of self, who’s educated and creative. I am committed to continuing to learn throughout my life, and I want to learn new things from you. Come dance with me……
