About sloopygirl
I sold my sailboat the first of 2007 and came back to Florida from the cruising the Caribbean on a sailboat for 8 years. I lived on a boat for 2 years prior to that in Sarasota and the Keys.
I’ve never been a “girly girl” type person - no lace and ruffles for me. Forget the phony nails and over-processed hair. I’m comfortable in casual stuff and what they would call a down to earth person. No problem for me to paint a room or a house, or a boat bottom. I’ve also mowed my share of lawns, but would rather work on a boat.
I don’t care about politics, you won’t find me in a discussion about that or religion. Actually, I try not to get into “discussions” on any subject that sound more like arguments. I figure everyone is entitled to their opinions and I don’t think it’s my duty to change their minds and I don’t want anyone to tell me how to think.
My music tastes are varied, possibly quite dated. I like soft rock, a bit of the harder rock, and reggae, depending on my mood. Just don’t try to get me to listen to that twangy country stuff.
I’m looking for a friend who could become more than a friend. I think in order for a relationship to work, it needs to start out as a friendship and grow from there. I am looking for a caring, considerate, comfortable, trusting, loyal relationship based on truth and honesty on both sides. I need to be able to trust whoever I’m with. I want to be completely comfortable with my partner, but also realize that both parties need to be able to spend time alone or to have time with other friends.
I’m looking for someone with a great sense of humor. With the world that land-dwellers have to live in - a bit of humor can go a long way. Kindness and thoughtfulness are imperative in order to develop a good relationship. Openness and the ability to be able to talk to one another is necessary to prevent misunderstandings that can grow needlessly out of proportion.
Above all, I would like to find someone who can find fun and entertainment in the simple things in life, to be able to appreciate the things around us instead of having our possessions define us. I obviously have been a very active person and will continue to be that way on land. I cannot see myself happily paired with a person who refuses to take care of himself by being active. Activity is not only good for the body, but also helps your psychological state of mind.
Since I’m not really a good cook, and don’t enjoy it, I cook the most simple meals. For self preservation, it seems that it would be a good idea if my ideal partner could cook and actually enjoy it.
