Hi,
Some who use the personals are just looking for friends and I sincerely hope they find them. Would I be glad to find "just" a friend? Absolutely, real friends are not easy to come by. Would I prefer to find a partner? You bet your a**. After all, your partner should be the best friend you share your bed with. Dating is really just trying people on for size. You know it and I know it. It can either be as crass as that sounds or as pleasant as we can make it- I'm in for the latter. So, here are some things that might tell you a bit about me.
The thing that I appreciate most in a partner is emotional honesty. Laugh when you feel good, cry when you need to, tell him if you just want to be held - just let it be real.
The people who's relationship I admire the most are my brother and his wife. They laugh often, are really there for each other and their friends and family and are honest about what they want and need. If you find yourself saying things like "if you don't know, I'm not gonna tell you" when it comes to what you need from a friend, you and I will probably not get along.
Something I haven't done yet that I would like to do is travel with someone who wants to really experience the journey and the destination. Room service and ocean views are great but wouldn't you also want to come away having had an adventure?
If I could live anywhere it would be somewhere with more trees than cars, more grass than pavement and more love than money. Don't get me wrong, I know what money can buy, but happiness still hasn't made that list.
About me: 5'10", 190# (between average and a few extra), look/sound/act straight (not because I'm ashamed but because that's the way it is), introspective, insightful, funny, sarcastic, supportive, tell-it-like-it-is, monogamous, look-for-the-good in people friend.
Dislikes: Oprah, Madonna, Dr. Phil, Bush/Cheney/Rove/Rumsfeld, queeny/campy attention-grabbing behavior, most reality shows, mean-spirited gossip, people who condescend, gawkers, reveling in personal "drama", entitlement, selfishness, greed, racism, violence (except in movies), abusers (people or animals), the environmentally unconcerned and people who don't keep their word.
Most important goal: To be a good man and build a happy life with one good man.
I offer no apology for the perceived cheesiness of any of the above. The truth is sometimes cheesy, that's the way it is.
Take care and get in touch if you want, as I do, to find out if it's all possible.
